So i noticed some oil dripping off my bellhousing today and the underside of my car is covered, made a little puddle under my new motor as well and i stuck a stick into the bellhousing and there is a lot of oil in there.
Its enough to make my family friend think its one or both of the oil gallery plugs, has anyone seen them leak before?

Yeah its a lot of oil :(
I didn't install the seals so i am not sure, the person who did i am confident he put them in correctly.
I was hoping you guys would tell me how hard it is to get the j plugs in the back to seal the oil gallery holes but no one has said that yet :(

remove the tranny to install the plugs, pretty simple, if the plugs were out you would have 0-oil pressure on your 2 mile run and would be out of oil period!!!! sounds like a real seal problem to me. check your oil level and see how much total oil you lost. if just 3/4 quart its probly a rear seal if its all gone you may have a plug missing from the back of the block.

It would be a rare problem unless the boss was cracked when the plug was installed. IF the plugs are leaking due to a cracked boss, oil pressure might be acceptable but, i would think that if the plug(s) where loose you might have less than acceptable pressure.

Now, you might have a leaking rear seal or the rear of the intake is leaking/seeping into the bellhousing.

Check the back of your intake manifold to make sure it's not leaking there. Mine did the same thing first thought was rear seal then I found my silicone bead at the back of the intake had a small gap. Always try the easy things first.

many years ago i had machine work done on a block and the machine shop installed the galley plugs, after we assembled the engine and put it in the truck we primed it and had oil streaming down the back of the block, slid the trans back to get a better veiw of what was going on and one of the galley plugs was leaking oil, it looked like a normal pipe plug but it was deep in the hole pretty much bottomed out in the threads it was snug but it still seeped oil so i took it out and replaced it with a new plug that tightened up like a tapered pipe plug should, not sure what the oil pressure was doing because i never fired it, so it is possible for a galley plug to leak. but if this isnt a new engine then i would lean more towards the rear seal

I caught my cousin installing the front galley plugs (specials) in the rear of his block. He said that he couldn't get them to tighten up even after screwing them in over 3/4 of an inch, so he put teflon tape on them. Had he tried to run it that way, he would have had a major oil leak! Might be worth checking out. HAPPY NEW YEAR
